9800se,will it run ok in my sk41g?

    hi there

just wondering wether this card:3D Prophet All-In-Wonder 9800SE) will work in my sk41g2,ive read that apparently in some sff machines they rely too heavily on the 5v line @ boot and cause the shuttle to fail

ide realy love to try this card for its price and features,is any1 else out there with a shuttle using 1 of these with success?

    thnx in advance

    Well. .. ..

I have a SN41G2 like you with a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9700 pro installed I have had no problems with it (everything is at stock mind ). Its been in there since Feb 03.

However not sure if the 3D Prophet All-In-Wonder 9800SE will suck more juice

//unrelated: I must add I did have memory probs but thats sorted now...

i heard something about the psu having overvolt protection hence prevents you from using it. However there are a few solutions:

Unplug the power connector on the 9800SE AIW, but hold it so its ready to slide on. Turn the shuttle on and count 4 seconds. Then plug it in. Should boot fine then as the voltage doesnt spike.

Then get hold of shuttle and start badgering them for one of their modded PSUs which have the overvolt protection that causes the problem disabled.

    Best solution = badger shuttle.

yer i've just been umming and arring over getting a herc aiw 9800 but according to sudhian it should be fine - just a little hard to get the card in in the first place.

There are also some circuit diagrams around to delay the power to the card aswell so you don't get the spike and you don't have to do the dodgey plug thing infinity is talking about - quite where i dunno thou...

thnx for ure views guys,i think i may well take the risk actually (but i know it would affect me badly if i was 1 of the unlucky 1,s) as the card can also be modded to a 9800pro so i hear (i wouldnt be doing this straight away ofcourse) at present im actually using a leadtek ti4200 (128mb) overclocked to 300/600 which does the job (but when aa & af activated it still struggles @ a res of 1600x1200) but also this card is the perfect size aswell and cant afford for the radion to be any bigger in size becouse of my 80mm intake fan,,can any1 confirm if there the same size card roughly within a few mm please?

ive read a few reviews which show the card nexto a geforcefx for example for comparison and it does look quite small but im just a little uncertain so any info would be appreciated thnx!
