Motherboard advice for a friend please.

Looking to upgrade my computer soon, but I'm having trouble finding a motherboard that matches my needs atm, wouldn't mind some surgestions!

The motherboard needs to beable to support:
Intel Core 2 (new 965-975 chipsets)
    800+mhz ram
2x raid controller (at least 2 slots each)
not too fussed with having a 2nd gfx pci-e slot for sli, but be nice for upgrading gfx later.

The other parts I'm getting are:
    Gfx: Geforce 7600GT Extreme
    Cpu: Intel Core 2 6600
    Ram: Corsair DDR2 TWINX 2GB PC6400

    thx for any help.

the asus p5wdh is probably the best conroe ready board atm.

You're looking for boards which are 975X ready, not just 975; otherwise it won't accept the conroe. :>

    try that :>

Hiya again, passed on the advide you guys kindly gave. She want's to know: I have 2 raids setup currently,
    2x 36gb raptor (boot)
    2x 300gb maxtor (storage)

    Will this one support that?

Hmm not sure, been reading the manual which was available for download from the website, I don't know much about motherboards and raid so not sure. It seems to have mainly most slots on 1st controller and 1 internal 1 external, can I just wire external one to be raided with internal with 2nd controller? or is there some other way?

Got about 1-2 weeks before the cpu arrives anyways so I have time to look for a suitable motherboard if this one isn't for me, but I do like the sound of the features, mainly the remote control as I use my computer as a tv, hifi and game cnosole in one kinda thing.

Once again, thanks for any help

All you need is a MB with 4 SATA 2 sockets linked to a RAID controller, which basically means any with a 975/965 chipset. The Asus models do seem to show poor power regulation (despite the '8 phase' stuff) though are suitable for most needs. You could also look at the Intel D975XBX or the Gigabyte GS965P-DS3.
