heard alot about benchmarks, but no mention of what really matters (to me) ... performance in games

conroes > amd at everything.
that's it. game over.
[despite a few minor things like photoshop, conroes out perform AMD's at everything, including gaming. A E6600 will quite comfortably out bench an AMD fx-62 form the benches I've seen. :>]
Well, slight caveat that there has to be some room left for your GFX card to expand into. If you are completely bottlenecked by the graphics card the difference isn't significant.
But in general, yes, conroe > amd.
ok, im convinced
getting an e6300
now someone tell me what mobo and ram to get plz
if it makes any difference it'll be running alongside a 7950
Sigh..what was wrong with your old thread?

i did go a bit off topic with askin about mobo nd ram best to keep that in the other thread
it does seem straneg that a 1.8 ghz can be remotely good nevermind better than a decent speed x2
He didn't need a fast answer. It was already in his original thread. twice.Originally Posted by rainbow
It's hardly a big one either, I even quoted the other thread. So really I answered his question three times. The big one indeed.
the E6300 increased my 3DMark05 score by more than 2000.
Enough said?
Sounds good to me.
Ram wise get team xtreem nothing better for price & performance

Maybe next year, funds allowing of course and hopefully pc hardware price drops, i might build another computer based on the conroe just for benchmarks, i have noticed more and more people benchmarking number crunching etc it sounds fun. But from what i gather from different review sites the conroe is not that much ahead of amd in real world gaming.
It might not be that far ahead as I'm sure AMD have something in the pipe, but by god do these conroes kick ass for their proce. check out james.robinson's thread on o/c'ing his E6300. :>
That asus does indeed look quite tasty mmmm...bah I'm being tempted now
so is it better or not!?Originally Posted by Goss

maybe im just findin it hard to swallow the idea of a fast 1.8ghz compared to 2.4
Ben, calm down. Obviously people will have different opinions, and obviously you will have yours. Look at the common opinions in the several threads you've created today. Conroes are better then AMD dual cores. Even the lowest stock version. How many people need to say it?
