Boot fails on mup.sys
Hi guys,
Yesterday I installed Draytek's Router tools, and this morning, first reboot since then, PC hangs on XP boot screen....the splash comes up, and then it never makes it to windows,
Safe mode wont make it past mup.sys
It asks if I wanna load d344bus.sys and if I say no(esc) it sticks, and if I say yes..it sticks,
Anyone help? How doI edit stuff in the boot log if I cant get into XP?

May be worth trying an XP cd - can you get to system restore with one of em? Never tried.

does it hang or does it just take ages? my computer stays at that point for about 2 minutes before deciding to load windows... and its really annoying :( i started a thread in the operating systems bit of the board...

safe mode? and then edit?

Common misconception. Its not actually hanging on mup.sys. It just so happens thats the last thing you see it load before it hides what it's loading again.

Blackdwarf is right...thats the last one it does right.
Cant get into Safemode.....same happens
Goolged it and someone suggested turning off USB in bios...desperate now, so wil try
Will try an XP restore now

USB didn't do it....XP restore time.

ah sod it....fresh install.

I had this problem before, on my old NF7-S system, would drive me crazy, did rebuilds and would still happen. I narrowed it down to the fact that when i had my printer plugged in via usb, then it would hang, but was fine without it.
I know that you have turned USB off in the BIOS, but maybe actually try removing all devices physically and seeing if its a problem, then maybe isolating one device if that where it lies...
