    Abit AN7 Error F - Wont Boot

Hi all, last night my PC started turning itself on automatically about 20 seconds after i turned it off. After it did this twice I switched it off at the socket. Then this morning when I come to turn it on, switched it on at the socket but it will not power up.

The red LED is on and the LCD display first says '5' the fans startup then immediately stop and the LCD then states 'F.'

I've tried removing hard drives, fans, checked connections to see if anythings shorting out.

    Any ideas any1?

    Hi dude
I recon you should swap out and replace your CMOS battery. Otherwise RMA the board to get it repaired.
    Cheers Dude
let me know if you have any luck.

The abit post code are normally 2 digits, if you are only receiving 1 number on the display they maybe a serious problem. Check to see if there is a short somewhere, the easiest way to tell is by removing the motherboard from the case and powering it on.

Thanks for the reply, like you say Abit_Sean I was concerned due to the single digit code but after swapping out components i've found out its my PSU. Not sure what exactly happened and whats specifically wrong with it but when i swapped it to another, worked fine. So going to invest in a new PSU and surge protector to be sure.

Thanks again and hope this might help anybody else who might come across a similar problem.
