AMD 4400 x2 and DFI NF4 SLI-DR problems

Just thought I had got the deal of the century by buying an AMD 4400 x2 for £146.
Did a quick web search and found people with issues with DFI motherboards and x2 processors.
Is anyone running these two together OK.

Need to put my mind at rest until it comes. Cheers

I believe that someone on these forums does have it and it all works fine for him .

EDIT: Just checked, Kempez is currently using an Opteron 175 with this motherboard (which is the equivalent of your CPU) until his E6600 arrives

So long as it has a decent BIOS it will work fine. DFI loves their bios updates

Also got this setup. Make sure you get a DFI approved PSU though - mine was a little flaky without one. There's loads of stuff on the support forums about them:

I am really struggling with it at the moment. I have a 600W seasonic PSU but I couldnt boot until I took the CPU voltage off auto and put it on 1.425v in Bios.
Now I am getting loads of IRQL_not equal etc errors on BSOD.
Not what I thought it would be like.
This is a new experience having dualcore so I may be missing something.
I have done a clean install of Windows XP Pro with XP2, do I need any special drivers.

Sounds like you have an older BIOS. If you can get into windows and have it reasonably stable just use winflash to update it.

704 2bta bios was always fine for me, make sure you have good case ventilation as the pwmic area on the motherboard gets really hot when a dual core cpu is fitted, make sure you have the latest chipset drivers from the nvidia website. make sure you have all the windows updates, make sure that you have plugged in ALL FOUR power connectors to the motherboard, including the molex and the floppy type power connectors near the cpu. if you are using 1 graphics card, make sure that you have the card in the slot nearest the cpu and that the jumpers are set to the 16x + 2x configuration, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. if you have any other pci cards, especially a sound card, take them out and see if you still have the problems, also unplug your cd/dvd, as i had an nec that cause all kind of weirdness.

are you overclocking? if so, will it run stable at stock speeds?

Yeah the PWM on mine was hitting 70 at one point, managed to rein it in a bit now, it's doesn't help my cooler blows hot air at it

a zalman fan bracket and a 120mm fan strategically placed, will blow air onto both the pwmcia and in the direction of the chipset, works wonders

Well it's supposed be sitting with some lovely water cooling, but thecoolingshop still haven't got their ass in gear

Right, I have the latest bios and a fan over PWM which keeps it at 34c idle. I have watercooling as well. Graphics card in the right place, all power connectors in, not overclocked at all yet.

I was running a 3000+ Venice at 2.7GHz absolutely stable.

Trying the sound card idea now to see if there is any joy there.

Ok getting somewhere now.
Ran Superpi and it failed after about 4 seconds everytime.
So ran Prime and that failed on cpu and memory setting.

Had an idea and ran prime on cpu only and it was sweet as a nut for 45mins.

Went back to Bios and set memory to 133 and superpi ran and finished.
I have 2 x 512mb Patriot 3200 XBLK designed to run at 200 - 2-2-2-5 settings but obviously there must be a problem.

Going to run memtest now but why wont the ram run at stock ?
