    Which RAM For E6400 Processor?

Hello everyone, I havent been on this site for a year or so. But the time has come to upgrade, Im replacing my current northwood 2.8 with the E6400, ATi 9800 with a 7900GTX 512mb. I would like to save as much stuff from my old set up as poss. which includes my RAM. Im wondering...do you think using my current pc2700 2x512 sticks will be ok to use with an SLi motherboard and my E6400 processor? If not, which memory sticks would work? Is there going to be much performance difference for gaming?

ANy help would be great, Im not up to speed on RAM settings and speeds for processors.

    Thanks!

Unless you get one of the hybrid (Asrock) mobos you will need to replace everything. DDR with DDR2, PATA with SATA drives, AGP with PCI express, even the power supply will need changing as the motherboards have a different connector.

I may be wrong here but those Asrock Dual Sata Mobos dont work with Conroe! I think youll be looking at aprox £100 for Mobo alone

    My estimates so far are:

    £150 for cpu
    £110 for mobo
    £280 for gpu.

Using PC5300 actually decreases performance, only when going to PC6400 there is again a performance increase to be seen. While expensive DDR2 memory models with tighter timings do improve performance, the difference in real world games and applications is negligible
