Xeon 5160 vs Core 2 Duo2 6600
Hello everyone, I just stumbled across these forums, and I think I'm going to like being here for quite a while.
I am getting ready to build a computer for graphic design stuff, mainly using Adobe(Macromedia) tools, focusing on webdesign. I want a rather high end computer, with all the latest things. Money really isn't a big deal, but keeping it below a few thousand would be nice. I don't need a great graphics card, I was thinking a ATI x1600...
My biggest question is about the processor and MB, I have most of the other componets in mind. I know that the Intel Core 2 Duo just came out, and thats the chip I was planning on using, but then I read about the Xeon 5160 and that line of processors. Does it make sense for me to use the Xeon instead of the Duo2?
If so, my next question is, with what MB? I will prob only have 2 gigs ram initially, so thats not a big issue, and I only need 2 SATA, 1 PCI-e, and probably 3 bays/2 hd-bays...
I'm really unsure and not versed about chip/mb compatibility and learning all the numbers.
If someone could PLEASE either tell me their 'great' system config, or give me a link to read about this stuff, that would be great. If anyone can find a direct comparison b/t the Xeon and the Duo2, that would be even better!
Also, what manufacturer of RAM do you suggest?
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the super-long post!
Steven.
