decent Budget PSU

I'm building a PC for a mate, and I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible, ie with my leftover P4 630 and Abit board. I want to keep total price <&#163;250, so I was hoping to spend as little as possible on the case and PSU, but I know these are equally important as the rest. Can anyone suggest a decent PSU or case/psu combo? I'd like to keep the PSU to about &#163;30, case and PSU to around &#163;50...

The only review of the Hiper 350 I've seen wasn't a good one.

i have got a silverpower 400 and cant fault it never had one problem in "my system" and it is a watercooled overclocked system with a dfi m/b and they are meant to be fussy about psu's.

so for £25 i can highly recommend one!

Otherwise, look at getting a resonable PSU like the ones mentioned, and going second hand for the case.

Is that the Antec SmartPower you're referring to?

I had three Antec Smartpower 450w failures. They were all supplied with the Sonata 2 case. Case is great, PSU is not so good. I ended up giving up with the PSU & replaced it but kept the case as its excellent.

I still have a Sonata 1 that came supplied with a Truepower 380w which is going strong after nearly 3yrs solid use as my file server. It's switched on 24/7 & has never missed a beat!

The Truepower range does seem to be of a much higher standard than the Smartpower.
