Scythe Quiet Drive or Silentmaxx HD-Silencer

    http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/pro...drivesolutions

I need some help deciding between these two (unless you have any other options). My primary reason for purchase is to silence my 150Gb Raptor in my otherwise quiet system (a single 120mm Antec fan & Antec PSU are the only other noise generating components).

I've been reading reviews and discussion forums with mixed results. Most suggest that the Scythe is better at both cooling the drive and reducing noise. The SilentMaxx seems the more popular but it was the cheaper option.

    can you offer any advice?
Does anyone have either the Scythe or the SilentMaxx?

ive got the predecessor (sp?) to the quiet drive, the silent box. Fair enough ive only got a samsung spinpoint in it, but when u put it in, it makes a noticeable difference to the noise levels.

I'd go for the quiet drive, out of personal experience with scythe

I've got some silent drive enclosures i use on my lounge PC, not bad, i've actually got one spare for the next 2 weeks if your in london and want to try one.

They didn't do as much as i had hoped i must confess. (not quite worth the money i spent silencing the 3 HDDs)

OK, I've been doing a little more research and have found two different Scythe products:

    Scythe Quiet Drive (SQD-1000)
    http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/pro...ns/quiet-drive
    £29.99 inc VAT

    Scythe Silent Box (SBX-1000)
    http://shop.mediacomputers.co.uk/aca...sk_Drives.html
    £41 inc VAT

    SilentMaxx HD-Silencer

    £37.61 inc VAT

EDIT : according to Scythe's website the Silent Box has now been discontinued!!! The Quiet Drive now seems the best choice - and it's cheaper!!!
