ill have another play around with the settings later on, just priming at the moment.

temps with the stock cooler were 60c idle built up out of the case with a fan blowing directly on it..with good water its 53c under load @ 1.5v the only thing that appears to be hot is the northbridge, so yeah, i think they are way out, maybe by about 20c?

i think the bios is showing the 1:1 as 400 fsb/800 ram as in 800 ram = ddr x 2...(i think) so its no surprise your ram is crapping out at 667 because that is 1334 isnt it?

ive suffered confusion now and my eyelid has started twitching.

This may sound like an incredibly stupid question but I'll go ahead and ask it anyway - does anybody know if the Asus P5W DH Deluxe supports NCQ?

ASUS P5W64 WS Pro looks like it could be quite good.

And there's me just gone and ordered a P5W DH Deluxe.

Then again I suppose I needed it now rather than later.

    4 PCI 16x slots
    I think thats overkill.
Anyone running four graphics cards is going to have some serious cabling & heat/noise problems.
Very few cases will handle that setup.
Also, you are looking at a high watt PSU.
Not enough spaces between the four PCI 16x slots.

Graphics cards should hopefully improve and it would be pointless to get this setup unless you are using a 30+inch screen. Even then, It is a waste off money and a future graphics card will outperform the four cards for a fraction of the price (eventually). E.g. Look what happened when SLI was first introduced.

you can say that about all computer hardware - tomorrows tech will outperform todays at a fraction of the price, be it CPU's, memory, fridges or lightbulbs.

People who can afford 4 gfx cards worthy of being put in that system can afford a decent case/cooling solution

and... pcie is destined to replace pci.

2x gfx cards, 1 raid controller, 1 physics card (all pcie) = 4 pcie devices - its just a matter of time.

and I remember, back in the day, when one 3dfx card was overkill

no idea if they are all 16 lanes though. Have read that yes (hence the 64 in the title, 4x16=64) and no, they will be 16,8,8,8 or even 8,8,8,4.

And not on the asus site yet, but they are in the asus vip forum section, unofficially from what I can tell anyway.

Sean at Abit has provided some details on the new Abit board: -

    http://www.abit.com.tw/page/uk/mothe...775&DEFTITLE=Y

This is nothing extreme compared to the new Asus board. Still it could be a good Conroe mobo.

If the AW9D is as good a board as the AW8D (& assuming that it also has the features that you require) it will be a stonker.
