I read about problems with Samsung TFT screens suffering from Input lag which put me off them + plus with a 22" screen at the same resolution would only reduces the Pixel Density(although its not something id noticed) but the main reason is that Scan doesnt stock them and as im doing the Buy Now Pay Later scheme im trying to make sure i get everything from Scan. Which results with me getting that choice of 8800GTX(might change to the Asus if they get in stock) and having to deal with their prices.

Just Noticed the palit version is £40 cheaper so i might go with them but im not sure about them as i dont know much about them, might allow me to get a good set of 2.1 speakers.

Did you decide on everything yet Jay007?

I would be really interested to know what you do, because I am about to upgrade to a PC almost identical to yours. Would love to hear what you get, and how it all goes.

Well ive decided on everything and now waiting to order but they havent got the Dell 2007WFP in stock and i just realised they havent even got it on their website anymore so i dont know whats happening with that. If there not planning on getting anymore than i will be going ahead with the order and should hopefully be getting it on friday(unlikely though) but most likely monday.

i'll let you know how it all goes.

Nice, thanks

As for the monitor, I will be going with the: 20.1" NEC 20WGX2, Widescreen TFT, 1680x1050, 6 ms, 700:1, 470 cd/m2, Silver/Black.

I read REALLY good things about it. Not cheap though, but it sounds great.

yeah quality wise it does have the edge over the Dell but the only reason why i went with the Dell was becuase i could connect my 360 up to it and keep the aspect ratio or even do 1:1 pixel mapping. The NEC 20WGX2 doesnt havent any of these scaling options and will just stretch the image to fit the screen. Shame really as i really wanted it.
Plus it doesnt have HDCP which tbh is not a big deal becuase i cant see myself buying blu-ray/HD-DVD drive in the next 2 years plus no one knows when movies will actually start using HDCP.

I think it might have HDCP unless I linked the wrong monitor. I cant remember for sure, but im pretty sure I read that the American version doesn't have HDCP but the British version does.

I think theres an older version too. The NEC 20WMGX or something, and this one is slightly newer called the 20WGX2 so this one might have HDCP. I will need to check that though before I buy it. Although like you said, its not a huge deal because im still going to just be using DVD's for the next few years atleast.

If I had a console though, I would be put off by the stretching thing, but with just PC gaming, I'm hoping it will work ok. The only thing that worries me about the monitor before I buy it, is that it is said to have shiny glass screen on the front which makes the colours really vibrant etc. But it can also cause problems with reflections if you have a window facing the screen. And I do Im thinking I'll just try it though, and if its a problem, I'll just have to re-arrange my computer room.

Just to clarify the NEX for you, the 20WMGX2 is the American version with HDCP, extra connectivty and NTSC tuner and the 20WGX2 is the european version without HDCP and the extra stuff. If the euro version was the same as the US version i would have gone for it.

As for the 20WGX2 having a glossy screen it could be a problem but i think even with the window you would only ever see a reflection if the screen was black but that could be annoying if you were watching something with black borders.

With console gaming the dell has 1:1 pixel mapping with elimanates stretching and just has black borders around or you can have it stretch but keep the aspect ratio(which is what i'll probaly use). The Nec doesnt have these options.

Ive had to think hard as to which one to go for and even though the NEC offers better quality the Dell just fits my needs better and cheaper.

btw ive ordered all the pc parts and it should get delivered on monday but i wont be able to stick it all together till tuesday. I opted for a bigger 320Gb hard drive and a SATA DVD Drive instead of a IDE by choosing a Palit 8800GTX instead of the XFX and saved £40.

If the monitor doesn't do 1:1 scaling your graphics card should be able to.

Ok so scan have ran out of stock on Arctic cooler Freezer 7 so i need to change the HSF. Heres the following options i think are best available at scan.

Zalman CNPS9500-LED Aero Flower Cooler (Socket 478, LGA775, 754, 939 and 940)

Scythe Ninja Plus Fanless HeatPipe Cooler S775/S478/S754/S939/940 c/w 120mm Quiet Fan

Scythe Infinity Quiet CPU Cooler Quiet - Socket 478, LGA775, Socket 754, 939, 940, AM2

AKASA Intel/Athlon 64/FX60, 6xHeatpipe cooler illuminated duct, Ultra lo-noise 92mm PWM fan EVO - 922

I have looked at reviews of the following and all seem like good HSFs with the potential to OC with them but i dont know which one is best or how they compare with each other or with my inital choice becuase i could look else where for that cooler. Also im guessing my choice of case(Akasa Mirage-62) being as wide as it is should be fine with the big scythe options.

Any help?

I ended up getting the Tuniq Tower 120, seems like its the best air cooler around. Should arrive today with the rest of the gear, finally i get to put it all together.

In terms of operating system is it worth purchasing a copy of Windows XP 64? or shall i stick with the 32bit edition i have.
