Amd X2 Am2 5000+

Does anybody know of a release date for this chip or if it is being discontinued?

It's been on 'pre-order' at loads of websites for months, I'd like to get it, but I need to buy before the 18th September.

afaik AMD dropped all the 1MB L2 cache cores other than for FX & Opterons.
A small no of e.g. 4400+s were made but no more ...

Thing is, it's still on their priceless of CPUs, it was the 1mb cache ones they dropped, the 5000+ hass a 512 cache. Also if dropped they would inform people that are trying to sell them, and not ge them to put them on pre-order.

In the middle of June, 2006, AMD has stated that they will no longer make any non-FX Athlon 64 or Athlon 64 X2 models with 1MB L2 caches [4]. This led to only a small number of the Socket AM2 Athlon 64 X2 4000+, 4400+, and 4800+ models being produced. This leaves the Socket AM2 Athlon 64 X2 model line with only the 512KB L2 cache models: 3800+, 4200+, 4600+, and 5000+.

Even so, nobody in the US has gotton a 5000+ nore has anybody in the UK, and I can't seem to find a release date for it, especially as it's the best CPU they do bar the FX-62.

Back order means they aren't in though doesn't it...damn...for a moment I thought you'd said backstock

I don't really want to do the Conroe route, and the 4600+ just doesn't seem that powerful...oh well, if no 5000+ when it gets to the last min for ordering I'll have to get the 4600+

Also, out of interest, you wouldn't happen to know when the Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC6400 (800) - (LN11596) - will be around do you? other places have it in stock...but I'd rather not get it else where.
