After a bit of advice.

Im after a new CPU. Currently I have a whinchester core A64 3200 that has been running in an MSI Neo2 plat at 2500mhz for over a year and a half . I reckon the last heatwave damaged it as I keep getting BSOD's at the same point. Anyway I was looking at the San Deigo 4000 as its basically the same core as the FX57. Will the 4000 clock to those sort of speeds?

Im was also looking at the X2 3800/4200 but Im not sure if my mobo supports dual cores cpus. I cant afford to go for a new Mobo atm because Ill need a new graphics card to go with it as Im still using AGP.

The K8N Neo2 Platinum supports Manchester and Toledo X2s, and has also been tested OK with Opteron 165s and 175s - see MSI CPU Support List. It seems to work OK with E4 and E6 stepping Manchesters. If you can push the boat out a bit, I'd suggest the X2 4400 - Ebuyer have them at a squidge under £170 inc VAT for the retail version with H/sink. 2.2GHz, with 2x1MB L2 cache as opposed to the 2x512kb of the Manchester core CPUs like the 3800 and 4200. Scan list the OEM version as £136, but it's not in stock and that would tend to indicate there won't be any more, AMD moving to AM2.

Hmm. Cheers, I have got the latest bios so I may save up a bit more and go for the 4400. Anybody had one of these up to FX60 speeds? :mrgreen:
