Before spending 2 hours cable routing..

Man it was beuatiful, the nicest i'd ever had the inside of my machine, go to turn it on *crack* no life. Spend another 2 hours rechecking all the connections, trinyg different modular combinations, still no life. So I've just torn it all back out, stuck my crappy 420w thermaltake PSU back in and sent an RMA request to scan.

TBH, I'm more annoyed that I did all that without testing the PSU first Stuff is sometimes DOA, fact of life, but man do I feel stupid.

Just wanted to rant and maybe get called an idiot for not checking

Equipment should *never* be DOA IMO. That just shows shoddy QA.....and I must say I stopped using Enermax a while ago because their equipment took a nose-dive in quality.

At least I hope you remembered where you routed everything for your next attempt

Well a lot happens in between QA and getting to my house, but you're right it shouldn't be DOA. I remember how I routed everything but now I'm almost out of cable ties. D'oh!

Buy a thousand cable ties, bunch the wires together, have them splitting off when needed, then cable the entire thing to your drive cage. not sure if I'll bother next time, as I might not have time.

Yup I thought that that when the PSU went 'crack'. I was like oh ****. As you can guess from my specs, wouldn't be cheap to replace, and enermax would be paying if i had tot beat the money out of them

@dave87, not bad, no having sleeaved PSU cables makes it much harder. Out of curiousty, wo so many fans and volts for only a 200mhz OC? or is your spec wrong?

specs not wrong - its SoA

The 3200+ Barton volts at 1.65 standard, and I've undervolted. - the barton @ stock comes with a 11x multi

and there are so many fans to keep the air moving through the case, in past the hard disks (restrictive front grill) then by the graphics card & out. The other one is over the memory, as I had to put extra volts through it, and then the standard ones on the hsf & back of case.

It is slightly annoying not having sleeved cables, but I cba to undo it all to sleeve it It was designed so that I get the maximum airflow for minimum noise, so all the fans are on their lowest settings.

Same here, that PSU was meant to 'finish' (apart fropm maybe a GFX upgrade) this system for a while hence going balls out on the cable routing.

I have a nagging feeling the enermax wont want to work with my sli-d.

My enermax works with everything, period! I haven't used an SLI-d though . But I cannot see a problem with PSU/Mobo compatibility... I had my brothers rig running on my PSU for a while (comprises of SLI 7600GT XXX and my old opty 175) and it was running fine. Obviously I didn't let him keep it .

i think there was a problem with the dfi expert and the enermax liberty, but i think they sorted it didnt they?

I had a nagging feeling i'd something about enermax and DFI, couldn't put my finger on it, we shall find out in a couple of days when my replacement arrives.

I've just spent half an hour poking at it, look like it's missing pin 20 on the ATX 12v connector. google tells me this should be a white cable, -5v DC. I dont really know much about PSU's other than what I need to power my system and how to connect one. So i have no idea if this cause my problem or not, all I know is my cheapo thermaltake PSU has one and it works
