    Shuttle SN25P - 12v line issues?

    Hey all,

I've got an issue with my SN25P which happens at the most random of times. If I'm playing any game which isn't a Steam based game the system will (at some point) just shut down. Now the next part is important - the system doesn't show any signs whatsoever that it's going to shut down, it shuts down as if someone has pulled the plug out of the wall i.e. instantaneous. I ran prime95 and that went fine. I'm just finding it obscure as to why any game except a Steam one causes this. Directhex had the idea that the 12v line is spiking which would cause it to shut down. I've checked the GPU temps, they're above normal but it is a Shuttle, and the temperatures are the same in Steam based games as they are in other ones.

    Any ideas?

I don't suppose you have a spare ATX PSU lying around that you can hook up externally and rule out the possibility that is the PSU, if it is then you can get a replacement Shuttle one from theglowlounge. Other possibilities might be a dodgy power cord or dodgy socket extension cable (unless you've got it plugged straight into the wall).

Could be southbridge temperature? Steam games are relatively low demand on system components usually. Likewise prime95 doesn't heat up your gfx card. I had a laptop that would suddenly shutdown only when playing NWN until I bought a cooler for it. Does it still happen if you try running with the cover off the case for a while?
