    Question IDE/SATA Card? 1 IDE= 2 channels yes?

as title suggests?as i am thinking of just running my ide devices on my mobo on a card as its too much to spend when resta mobo seems to work.so anyway if i were to get 2 cards for example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Port-SATA-RA...QQcmdZViewItem
does that mean i could run 2 ide's on each? as there is only 1 channel and if thats the same as on a mobo that is 2 devices unless its mono?
    cheers

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

yes, 1 ide channel = 1 master and 1 slave device

    1 sata channel = 1 device

1 scsi channel = usually 15 devices inc controller

    Watch those controllers

Be careful which add-in card you choose for your drives. I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium which has a SiL0680 (Silicon Image) SATA raid controller on board. I had a SiL0680 card in another machine so I thought 2 controllers with the same chip will either be a yes or a no. Well I booted up and it recognised the drives on both controllers but the PC refused to boot. So, be warned.
