    Well here's my new toy.....

After much umming and arring, and some excelent advice from these very forums, I am now the proud owner of an inspiron 6400

    Piccies -

    The Laptop closed -

The Laptop - open - back facing

    Face on -

    Specs wise -

    Intel Centrino Duo (Core Duo) T2500 - 2Ghz - CPU-Z here
    2Gb DDR-667
    Dell 1680x1050 15.4" TFT
    80Gb IDE Hard Disk
    Radeon Mobility X1300 Graphics
    DVD+-RW

And the best bit - due to the free double memory, free delivery - it cost £940, which I didn't think was too bad. Using it so far, I think I'll be able to turn off the paging file to enable better battery life (less hdd usage) and the processor seems to be able to run at 998mhz for most of the time (except when running image editors, or installing stuff)

Just thought I'd show off really,

Its probably heat/power requirements that limited the choice in this laptop, but I think it was a worthy upgrade over the Intel GMA950 integrated chipset graphics

My friend was running half life 2 at 1024x768 with a decent level of eye candy with a geforce fx 5200 and a 2100+ athlon xp a while back, your machine seems to have more poke so i reckon its got a decent chance of playing cs:s well. We're not talking everything turned up but hopefully it will look decent and be quite playable at the same time.
