Hi all, just thinking about the possibility of a new build - any ideas/feedback on this setup I just threw together?

If you are going to overclock the 6600, then it might be a good idea to get a graphics card that can keep up, something along the lines of an x1900. Otherwise, you've got 3gb of ram listed, which tbh is pointless, as XP atm wont make use of it, wait to add the extra gb when Vista arrives
Last time I looked the 320Gb Seagate drives were the best value, but it is personal preference as to what size you want/need
Oh, and I would consider an aftermarket heatsink, as they are liable to be quieter and cool better than the retail ones afaik.
Re Ram - oops, meant to get rid of that extra gig I'll look into better gfx.
Cheers
if you want a guranteed overclock ditch the 965 mobo and get asus 975 version
If you're overclocking swap the RAM for some PC6400, and get an artic freezer pro. For a little bit extra you can pick up a X1800XT and if you intend to use your TV for a monitor will have tons of grunt.
Updated the setup up top - feedback please!
This is going to cost just a bit more than I had originally planned, but what the hell, when in Rome
Looking like an awesome build, dont forogt some artic silver for the heatsink and the 250 version of that spinpoint is only £9 more.
/me is far too good at spending money
The P5WD2-E Premium doesn't support the Core 2 Duo. Look at the support section on the Asus website.
and spend an extra tenner and get a 250gb over the 160.

Pfft I don't know what's got into me today/yesterday
Cheers again
lol
Looking at my memory, how important would it be for the memory clock to be the same as the FSB?
As the sticks above are out of stock, I'm considering getting some OCZ ram from Komplett. The 6600's already on back order at Scan, and the rest I'd order tomorrow.

Many people have gotten over 3ghz easily with PC6400 RAM. The motherboard will probably crap out before your RAM anyway and everyone loves dividers
