Dell recalls 4.1 million laptop batteries

Dell has accounced that batteries used in the following notebooks:

    • Latitude: D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800, D810
    • Inspiron: 500M, 510M, 600M, 700M, 710M, 6000, 6400, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 9400, E1505, E1705
    • Precision: M20, M60, M70, M90
    • XPS: XPS, XPS Gen2, XPS M170, XPS M1710

Need to be checked ASAP via Dell's battery recall website. This is in response to a laptop that burst into flames at a Japanese press conference. The Li-Ion cells used in these machines were manufactured by Sony.

Thankfully my Inspiron's battery checks out, although tbh you probably want to do the same if you own one of the above models.

Doesn't just affect Dell either. The batteries are made by Sony, so it's very likely there are other notebook OEMs involved.

I foresee abusy time ahead; my firms got about a hundred or so Latitudes in service, and I've already had some batteries back in... That said, the web form's easy to use.

Just shows you how integrated all the different companies are, whether you like sony or not you cant escape it..

This battery business will be hell for the three companies, not to mention the customers..
    HTC Diamond, Cannon G9. Apple Unibody Macbook Pro 15" 2.4Ghz C2D, 256 9400GT,
