How tedious is it to install an Audigy 2 ZS?

Just decided to buy a used OEM Audigy 2 ZS (after much pondering whether I should buy a X-Fi)...

Read some guides (not so much of guides.. more like cries of frustration).. How difficult is to instlal this card? People has been saying that I have to disable all sorts of interrupts, serial ports or even changing the PCI frequency..

I was really looking for a plug and play thing, or am I totally wrong?

It's easy.

Plug and play (then update driver).

I didn't have a single problem.

its not difficult - just a pain in the a$$ trying to find the drivers for it. i dont know if they are available from the creative website, but when i had to do my 2nd reinstall of XP, i lost the disc momentarily, and all the drivers on their website are 'updates' that require the installation off the original cd..........very backward.


i dont know, may be different now though, but i hated trying to reinstall - so i imaged the cd and burnt it onto my reinstall disc.

Disable the onboard sound in the device manager. uninstall it's drivers if it had any. Whack the card in then download http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...pe=0&x=33&y=14

Took me about 10 minutes. But I'm not sure if the Creative Drivers you can download will work (heard somewhere they don't like the OEMs.), so I got the CD with the drivers as well.

Same as above, junst installed selected bits from driver disk, then updated

when I update, do I have to uninstall the older drivers 1st? or does it just install on top of it?

You wont get a driver disk with the OEM card, it'll just be the card in a brown box or lots of bubblewrap. You'll just install the ones from the website. They dont update often so there aint much problem.

When I first got it, I had trouble installing it.. although I can't remember why because it is pretty easy, just whack it in, install the drivers, ta-da.

(I think it was a problem with onboard sound been enabled, so make sure you disable that and remove the drivers before putting the card in).

Install drivers from cd, then log on too creative site, theres an auto update area for audigy cards.
