Ah, that's a good point - I hadn't realised there were 3 versions. I'll have to re-google (?) and see what model was being reviewed.

The more I think about it, the more taken I am by having the Media Pad - I could put it near my front door, so when I get in I can remotely start the PC. I could also use it to play some music without even going near the computer. Perhaps find some way to hang it on a wall as a remote controller.

Would any of that work? Fire up the PC by using wake on keyboard? Play some music without using (or looking at) the PC at all?

    Cheers

I've said it before and I'll say this again till I am blue in the face. Equipment for playing games is a really personal adventure and one persons ideal setup is another man's hell on earth.

for example - I could use the best gaming equipment available, but I don't

I actually use a cherry keyboard which is more designed for typists as opposed to gamers and the mouse I use is just a standard MX700 from logitech.

A fellow gaming collegue uses a cheap mouse by trust and cannot use anything else for his systems.

The best advice is to go and see a few keyboards and mice - get a hold and feel them and see if they feel right. When you find the one that "feels" right, you will know straight away as it feels natural

So long as the PC is switched on, listening to music won't be an issue - it's just the basics on the pad though - mute, volume up and down, previous and next tracks, play (and pause) and stop. Though you can customise them all of course.

As for switching the PC on, I doubt it. Perhaps if the PC was in standby or hibernate modes. Depends on the motherboard as well though, of course.
