That will do CD's DVD's and even light scribe stuffies for all your needs for only £23 and it comes with Nero. bargain if you ask me, it's only £8 more than a CD-RW drive too, most don't come with software.
thanks, looks good but its pre-order kinda wanna order it now =/
forget CD-RW drives and get a DVD-RW instead. I prefer Pioneer drives, but others swear by NEC.
I ordered this last night:

not a lot of difference between them, as i said, some people prefer NEC drives, others prefer Pioneer. Their specs are very close, and the drives are pretty mature. The Pioneer DVR-111D for example is their 11th generation of DVD-R drive, if they can't get them right by now, there is no hope
Just remembered, the some of the NEC drives have LabelFlash. This means you can burn images onto the label side of special LabelFlash disks. Pioneer don't do this.
As for software i would recomend Nero. Stay away from v7, it's bloated and as far as i know still buggy as hell. Nero Suite 3 v6.6 is probably the best bet from that page, ony £5 or so too
1.) Q: What does NEC Stand For?
A: NEC is not an acronym and does not stand for any other names. The company was originally incorporated as the Nippon Electric Company, but this name was officially changed to NEC Corporation in 1983.
so now you (we) know.
there was a big thing a while ago between them and Sky to decide who got the rights to the sattilite sevice gubbins in the UK i believe. obviously NEC lost.

Nice one, I didn't know any of that. I meant to say in my last post that NEC was just the company name, but you provided so much more information
