Best Way To Cool GF3 TI500

I've got the Leadtek Winfast GF3 TI500, and its adding unnecessary noise to my machine. The only reason i have this over a passive GF4 MX440 is because the 440 hits a resistor near the agp slot and wont fit.

So, this gf3, its running in quite a warm rig in quite a warm room. I'm not sure if i could get away with pulling the fan.

Also, theres not enough room between the card and the next PCI periph to remove the sink altogether and add say a Zalman Northbridge cooler.

No games are played on the machine (except maybe a little UT, Sensible Soccer 2006)

What fanless options do I have with this card?

Unless you're underclocking you can't get away with pulling the fan - I've got one as well and it runs pretty warm with heatsinks on ram as well.

May just ditch it for a passive card.

No chance of just pulling it - one of the Zalmans will probably fit though.

vf8/900 which will be inaudible, but has a fan?

aint gonna spend £20 on a zalman when i can get a passive mx440 for £10 on ebay :)

will see how quiet i can get my other fans first, before I change.

You could pull the fan and have a 80mm blowing over it at a lower RPM ?

Would running it on 5V (the fan, not the card ;))be ok...or would temps be too high?
Otherwise, pull the fan and replace with a larger, 80, 92, or 120mm blowing across it instead?
