    2 hdd problem

    i have decided to put my new raptor hdd in as master hdd and a 200gb as slave now these r both sata drives and i have plugged them into sata 1 and sata 2 ports but the mobo isnt recognising the raptor its just saying theres a hdd in sata 2 and nothing in sata 1... sata cable and power supply cable r both in... any suggestions ?

    btw i havent formated the 2nd hdd nd thts wat im running windows off atm

    Have you tried different sata ports to see if its recognised? Also tried the raptor in another motherboard?

    tried all sata ports and nothing at all.. also tried installing windows but tht doesnt recognise it either..... btw i have a nforce 4 board i dnt need to install sata drivers do i? just cuz i dint have 2 for my first hdd it recognised it streight away

    the disk doesnt even spin so i think its gone but i brought it off fear from this forum if ne 1 has his number?

    The drive sounds like it needs an RMA, I think those drives have a 5 year warranty so as long as you get any details off fear you should be ok to RMA for a new drive. Just one thought, you say you used the sata power connector, does the raptor have a molex connector as well? You could try that instead of the sata power connector to see if the fault lies with that connector. If it then works might be worth an RMA anyway as it clearly has a fault.

    Might want to unplug the other drive and anything else that might be power hungry to see if your psu simply doesn't have enough juice spare to power it up. Don't know what psu you have so that might be a non issue.
