    Lightbulb Hexus Overclocking Database

As I was browsing the web today I got thinking that while many of us here are avid overclockers, we don't have a thread to really brag about our rigs in. I mean the modding forum has a thread where they can show their handywork, why can't we. I was thinking we could list our achieved overclock (stable), what the stepping was, and any other tips that you think would be helpful. If you guys think this a good idea, start posting here!!

Take overfloes comment as an agreement

Well i couldn't agree more - It's good to brag and it's good to share tips and info - it both helps and encourages everyone. Hell we all in this for the bragging and the satisfaction, right? It's like a sport! And since i just spent a bored evening overclocking my 9700 i'm doubly in agreement. Allow me to start

FIC 9700 non-pro bought 6 months ago for £140 by friend on hols in the U.S

    Stock : 275/ 275
    immediate highest oc : 335/315
run for six months at 325/315 (same as 9700 pro)
    overclocked just now to 370/330

A pleasing overclock, and one that deftly illustrates one of overclockings most fundamental princaples : THE BURN IN.

No component will overclock to its physical maximum straight from the store shelf.

Determine its maximum speed and run it just below for a decent period. Now try again! (no need to wait six months, i just moved away from gf and this replaced sex nicely )

So do not be disheartened if that shiny new piece you just bought doesnt perform as well as you've been reading on Hexus in some oldies Sig ( you know who you are )

of course my 1400 t-bred still crashes if i put it up to 1401, but go figure?

Well i feel better, and i hope this helps a n00by.

    Who's next?

    easy now, F

Ive brought it up a few times, but it doesn't look like it'll go ahead due to many other projects HEXUS is working on at the moment.

C'mon there's gotta be more people than this who wanna show bragging rights, or share some insight. If there is enough interest maybe we'll get a sticky!

    Current -

    CPU - P4C 2.6 @ 3.20
Graphics - Albatron Ti4680 Turbo, stock 250/550 (core/mem) - now at 310/680 (possibly get a few more on each but not tried)

I recently found (2 days ago) that my OCZ memory was running at the wrong timings e.g. CAS 2.5 when it should be CAS2 according to OCZ website so I have corrected these to the stock values in the BIOS to be fiddled with later....

I have also turned up the memory voltage since finding out the maximum volts that the mem is designed for so HOPEFULLY I can now start overclocking the CPU some more when I get a chance

Richie are you using the Platinum series OCZ that I mentioned in my 3Dmark2001 thread here?

If so I'd be interested in hearing what memory timings you have set as I'm going to try finetune mine tonight. Also how exactly are you varying the memory voltage? I presume this is an option in the BIOS.

Na, its not the Platinum series, its 512MB of PC3200 EL (enhanced latency) which was set at 2.5, 3, 3, 7 and has now been changed to stock levels of 2, 3, 3, 7 but I may fiddle with the other numbers later on.

Have a look at the support section of the OCZ memory site - http://www.ocztechnology.com/ and do a bit of digging to find some tips for your specific memory.... It was here that it states that my own OCZ memory is rated to 2.9 volts and also the STANDARD timings for the memory which mine was not running at.

My DIMM volts were something like 2.5volts so I have upped it to 2.8 (max my MB will do) ready for overclocking when I get a chance next week (kinda busy next few days)

Voltage - my MB (Abit IC7-G) allows me to change voltage for CPU, memory and AGP individually.....

If you go to the support section of the OCZ site you can get some tips for your specific motherboard (if its listed) to get some more performance as well as suggested timings etc

Actually quite a good support section TBH

I agree that this is a good idea. But it should be more than merely bragging rights - in addition to providing the overclock, give the stepping (And any other pertinent information, like RAM chips in the case of RAM and graphics cards)! This allows people to spot trends in the overclocking strength of certain steppings.

    My overclock:

    CPU: XP1700+ Thoroughbred-B AXDA1700DLT3C 9391057260050 JIUHB0310XPMW
    Default: 1.47GHz @ 1.5v
    Overclock: 2.3GHz @ 1.7v

Burn in time? There's a thread on this: http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?threadid=8333
