Mac Mini style mini itx machine

    Hi all,

I`m interested in building a mac-mini style mini-itx machine, to connect up to my TV at home, for use as a PC and general play-thing. I have my eye in a epia board and I know what graphics and case I want. However one thing I am still struggling with is storage. Origonally I wanted to run CF as the hard-disks but, i`m worried about the storage capacity. Id like to run Linux on it either hopefully Fedora Core 5, so I need a good amount of storage forthe GUI and all.

Can anyone offer any solution for Quiet large storage solutions?

couple of things about this, i used win2k and 1gig of CF.

Great thing about NT is it has a "flash memory" driver, this understands that each flash cell has a write limit (about 100,000 re-writes before it dies) and does its level best to avoid re-writing the same sectors. As far as i'm aware 2.4 and 2.6 linux kernels have no such driver protection.... just a warning about your target OS.

What i use atm is a 2gig USB stick, and a laptop hdd, i spin the laptop HDD down, and nothing access it enless i go for something in its cache. I don't recomend this, as it gives hudge latency on accessing files, and gererally pissed me off. So i stuck a fileserver with lots of HDDs under the stairs, and booted soley off the USB memory stick (which was cheaper than Compact Flash!).

You could boot from flash memory, & then access files stored on another computer/server in another room over a network?
