TV Tuner - any other software out there?

I bought a DVB-T TV tuner to use at uni a few weeks ago from scan, been trying it on and off over the last few weeks but iv only recently started to use it on a regular basis. Its only now that iv foudn the software to be an absolute nightmare to use. The hardware side of things is excellent, but trying to change channels, record stuff or just open & close it can be an absolute pain in the ass, not something i want to be mucking aroung with right before a good film starts on TV.

When i originally bought this i was told there was some aftermarket software which i could use instead of the stuff that came in the box , does anyone have an idea of where i could find this kind of software?

this is supposed to be MCE compliant so you should be able to use it on software that uses the BDA driver system. MediaPortal is a good place to start. I did a quick search on http://forum.team-mediaportal.com and i don't think it is supported out of the box, but it didn't say it didn't work

sorry, this is the first TV tuner iv bought so im new to the technical bits. What do you mean by MCE compliant and BDA driver system?

MCE is Windows Media Center Edition. Its an edition of windows which is the same as pro but has an extra program on it which is used as a media center.

BDA is what something like the approved drivers for MCE

thanks for the response guys, i found a program called Media Portal(link posted by funkstar - cheers mate) which does the job really well.

Got it hooked up to weather forcast, TV, radio etc, genius bit of kit.
