    Spares for mice??

Okay, bearing in mind I'm a tight get (or, I'm in the middle of buying a house and am a tight get )...

is it possible to (easily) get spares for mice? My intellimouse with intellieye's cable has just gone (how do I know its cable? Hold the cable, move it and the lights go out!). And also the pads that the mouse rests on, which you have to peel off to get at the screw to get at the mouse...seems a shame to chuck a £25 mouse for the sake of £1.50 cable and £0.20 pads...alternative is to splice the cable up and fix it, which isn't gonna be pretty...

Thoughts?? Anyone with a dead intellieye I could scavenge?
    Well Hello!

Mine went int a similar way - move the mouse (cable bends) and it failed. I ended up stripping the cable, dismantling the mouse and resoldering the mouse cable.

Afterwards I wondered if MS would have replace the mouse under warranty - doh.

So my first shot would be a warranty claim then the surgery

Open it up and use a soldering iron, sounds like a few connections have gone inside.

I'd go with Ozymandias and Agent and try get it replaced under warranty first, and if that fails, perform surgery. (Surgery does sound like the more exciting option though!)

Its the wire - its a well known issue with these mice, nothing inside it

Bit unrelated but.... I have one of those bad boy mice. I also dual boot with linux (microsoft LOVEs dual boot with non microsoft os's). When I exit from linux. Reboot, halt etc. The next windows boot the mouse does not power up. It sits there. Idle for a bit.

If I then power down. And start again - going straight to windows. It comes back to life magically... This is quite annoying. Anyone else hit this ?
