are all conroe cpus built the same.
if i get one from scan will it be the same as from anywhere else
Yes!
HEXUS believes no one person has a monopoly on ideas, and that your opinion matters.
I would of thought so, i just got the e6600 revision B2 from scan.
Yep, no worries.
Can't see your PSU info. The RAM will work but possibly be a bit slow. You need to give a bit more info about the graphics card - is it PCI-E or AGP?
If you partition your hard drive you can transfer your current files to a different partition and then install a new copy of windows on the first partition.
i was thinking about that same cpu and mobo cougarslam let me know how you get on if u decide to buy it
If you remove all the chipset drivers from your PC and install the ones for the new motherboard BEFORE swapping the hardware, windows should boot up fine after swapping everything.

i just read on tomshardware forum that x850 only works with pci express and not agp
http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardw...ict199439.html
does any know if this is correct ?
Which X850?
The PCI-express ones only work with PCI-express.
The AGP ones only work with AGP
did you read the link ?Originally Posted by kalniel
No, your post didn't say anything about using it with a particular motherboard
As for accuracy, I wouldn't trust one post one on toms to be authoritative - no proof is given
my gfx is agp
thought was obvious from sys specs bein an ath xp
psu is eye-t 450w (el cheapo came with case)
ordered cpu and mobo off scan getting delivered on fri so will let you all know at the weekend if i get it working.
also i hear you need to re install windows to get dual core functionality is this true?
Ill prob get xp 64 if i need 2 re install as i can get it free of microsoft student alliance thing.
ive done it a couple of times, it booted up fine with a dual-core in, then i put the driver on and carried on using it no probs
the problem i have with xp64 is that F* all printers/scanners etc seem to work with it, plus i have a netmd minidisk etc etc
it might get better with vista but i reckon its going to have to be dual boot time again
