MSI K7Tpro - what ram??

Ok i have a MSI K7T pro (ver 1) and it have 128mb of pc133 kingstone valueram

and i whated to add another 256mb of ram

- i thought it only suported upto pc133

-but some sites say my mobo can take 266MHz DDR PC2100 DIMMs


can by mobo take pc2100 - or just pc133

is it worth the extra few quid to get pc2100 of pc 133 if i can

having done a bit more looking i think in only takes pc 100/133 so I'll just get 256mb of pc133 i think

I always find Crucial's Selector tool the best guide, although you can usually find out by opening the case and taking a look or checking for your mobo's name under the manu's website too. If you use the selector tool Crucial guarantee compatibility as well as giving you the usual lifetime warranty and free P&P. www.crucial.com/uk and slect MSI -> mobo -> MSI-6330 (K7T Pro).

It is PC100 or PC133 only as all KT133 chipsets were. 100mhz (PC100) for synced 100/200FSB and 133mhz (PC133) for asynced 100/200FSB or synced 133/266FSB (although it will run as PC100 too)). It makes sense to buy PC133. It's just over £43 but you may wish to look 2nd hand (For Sale/Trade Section?). BTW CL2 is a smidge faster than CL3 but if your existing stick is CL3 both will be limited to that speed anyway. 384MB is a very nice amount of RAM to have, well worth upgrading.

I'm afraid not. It's been a long time since DDR (PC2100, PC3200 etc) was more expensive than SDR (PC100, PC133) ... it's been ages since mobos have even had SDR slots on them, KT266A and up were DDR only. SDR is 168pin while DDR is 184pin. With nForce2 400 starting from £37 (DabsV/Biostar at Dabs) it makes sense to consider upgrading the mobo as well as the RAM. KT133+256MB_PC133=£47 while nForce2+256MB_PC2700=£70.

yeah but i already got a mobo so for me

256mb of pc133 = £30


this is my Second Pc and im only whating to give it a few more mb of ram - not a rebuild :S

- i use it for sufing the net and a bit of word processing
- and it plays UT fine


- if i what to do any think like photo editing i use the other PC (nforce2 + athlon 2600 + 512 of PC3200)
