    17" or 19" TFT

I've been considering an upgrade from my Mitsubishi 17" CRT to a TFT.
My main uses will be gaming and watching movies for the particular PC.

I noticed 19" have larger dot pitches compared with 17" as both are native @ 1280x1024. Is this noticable on game/movies?

My budget really is limited but I would say £150 at most.

Im looking for recommendations on panels.

    many thanks!

    Thumbs up

I've just ordered a 19" Samsung 940BF, which although over your budget is available at a good price at a shade under £200 from Dabs, Ebuyer or Amazon (a month ago this monitor was £250, I think it's come down because of over supply in the tft market as result of football)

I've ordered it due to it's 2ms speed rating, you shouldn't have any problems watching/playing games/movies with this TFT

17" anyday, miles better looking due to the smaller pixels. A 19" is just like a 17" monitor stretched.

ERm... if your watching movies then definately go for a 19", however on your buget mabe a better 17" may be better otherwise movies mkay not look so great.

I have an ultrasharp Dell and films look crap on it compared to my LCD TV, do you not have a normal tv as its gunna be better for movies tbh.

very noticable in games, i wouldnt get a 19 inch it would either be a 17 or a 20 just due to the res, its look misy and pixely in fps games i find. go with a nice 17"

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Looks like I'd be better off with a 17". Any good ones to keep an eye out for?

The 19" widescreens seem to have good reviews too.

and dont get me wrongi like 19 inchers but i went from a 17 inch crt to play on a 19inch tft and my crt could handle the same res, and i couldnt get over the fact of how misty and pixelly it was compared to the crt

Viewsonic VX724. I have one and its a seriously good monitor.

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=239683 a bit over your budget at £161.76 Inc VAT but i have seen it in the deals of the day a couple of times.

A brilliant monitor, clear picture, pretty decent viewing angle, a very speedy responce time, its a brilliant monitor.

Go 19" if you can afford it, for movies and games, the extra size really is much nicer. The larger dot pitch isn't noticeable - I've been using a 19" Samsung 913N since September and it's great.

www.overclockers.co.uk has a widescreen 19" for £140 - well worth checking out, it's getting some good feedback.
