    SB83G5C and Pentiun D

    Hi All,

We've just purchased the above Shuttle barebones system, and the guy in the shop sold us a 3.4GHz Pentium D to go along with it. Reading the manual it says it supports Pentium 4 and Celeron D procs, but as it's based on the i915 northbridge am I right in saying it won't support the Pentium D?

Did the guy in the shop sell us a useless processor? TBH it wouldn't surprise me as we're in the middle east.

Any advice/answers would be appreciated. I had a look on the Shuttle site, but couldn't find a definitive answer.

    Thanks all.

    Rory.

    Hi,

After some investigation I found out the SB83G5C does not support the Pentium D. Took the chip back to the shop and swapped it for a 541 - 3.2GHz, 200FSB (800 effective) and 1 MB L2 Cache.

    Works like a charm now.

    Thanks.
