hi, I was looking at getting a laptop for uni, then decided on a PC instead, I was going to buy from here as they have a lot of laptops at decent prices with good waranties etc. As said before, Sony and Asus seem to be good laptops so direct him towards them. The Sonys are quite expensive though so the Asus ones may be a better buy.

Dell? I got my inspiron up to a pretty good spec for reasonable money (this was during their time of free double memory & free delivery, but those offers come up regularly) Mine came out at £941, but I have seen comparable laptops for £1200+, dell can sometimes be a rather good buy :)

Another vote for the dell. My sister has one of their refurb type ones. She picked it up for just over 400 notes and it suprised me for the price just how good it is. Screen on it is lovely, sunlight doesn't seem to affect it at all either.

The drivers apparently make a difference - I just used the trial version, but its only $10 or £10 can't remember, if you want to upgrade :)Quote:
