    Which Anti-virus/Firewall??

I get a few people asking me whats the best/user friendly software available:-
    1. Firewall
    2. Anti-virus
    3. Combination of the two

The ones that spring to mind are

    1. Nortons - Antivirus
    2. Nortons - Internet Security
    3. Bullguard Internet Security
    4. Bit Defender 9 Internet Security
    5. Madesafe
    6. F-Secure
    7. McAfee
    8. Panda

I was wondering if anybody got any suggestions as to what they prefer and why?

    Cheers

What about Zonealarm Security Suite ?

It got the "best of" award in either PCPlus or PCPRo the other month. I am tempted to try it when my NAV05 subscription expires as I still us ZA the freebie for a firewall. I wouldn't go back to NAV Security suite as my previous experience was that it was hard to configure and basically bloatware. Having one app that does AV /FW and anti spyware sounds very appealing - as long as it lives up to it's reviews.

    Is this comment true?

I was under the impression the 'Hardware Firewalls' built into Routers only dealt with incoming packets and didn't do anything with stuff goin from PC to the outside world?

I use the Hardware Firewall on my Voyager 205 along with Sygate, which deals with outgoing data while the Voyager blocks the incoming stuff

Yes mate, what you say is correct too. However...

If your confident that your antivirus/antispyware solutions are competent - theres is no real need for a software firewall when you have a router.

    Tip: firefox...

EDIT: another reason not to have software firewalls imo with a router, is that its one less thing to worry about with internal networking issues.
