Have priced myself a new build based around conroe ( what else ) and have come in £100 ish under my minimum budget. Was gonna use the e6600 as have heard this is the sweetspot of the range but was wondering would there be much benifit in using the surplus cash upgrading the cpu or is it not really worth it ?

use the surplus cash on cooling... simple

I'm not sure on the differences, but having seen the overclocks on the 6600, I doubt you'll be disappointed. As Goku said, you could spend the money on better cooling, or as I would, go down the pub for liquid refreshment

All 6700 gets you is x1 extra multi, dont bother, spend the cash eslewhere.
