    Cpu

    Are thre any programs that can check is the cpu is working correctly? I ask this as i got a 4800+ X2 and i haven't noticed any performance increase over my 3200+.

    Are you sure you have got Cool'n'Quiet disabled? If thats enabled, you may not notice any performance boost...

    Otherwise run something like SuperPi, or run a benchmark like 3D Mark 06, and see if you have a better score than before the upgrade depending on the other components in your rig, you may not see as much of a performace boost as you would have thought

    and check that you have 2 cores in task manager. and if you do, open a load of programs, do an antivirus scan, encode a dvd, play a game all at the same time....hopefully

    i ran 3dmark o3 and got a lesser score, have checked task manager and it show a dual core.

    Will look for the cool and quiet.

    have you installed the drivers for it? I know there are some drivers that help if you install them

    Bear in mind that the clock speeds aren't very different between the 2. You probably wouldn't notice the difference without benchmarking. The point of a dual-core isn't usually outright speed, it's the ability to run different tasks and processes somewhat independantly to one another.

    A multi-core aware video encoder and such show the best differences. Not many games benefit at all at the moment.

    my mate has it at the moment he has got a 4000+ and 3dmark03 was even slower. He uses multitasking, so hopefully see an improvemnt.

    Then i'll sell it to him!
