Moving lower chamber fan in Antec P180b

    Hi all P180/P180b owners

I could do with a little more room for cables in front of my PSU in the lower chamber of the P180b, but I want to keep the fan. So I'm thinking of simply moving the pre-installed Tricool fan to the right of its current position - i.e. screwing it and the finger guard to the right-side of the fan mount, nearest the harddrives. This can then continue to draw air past the drives and out of the hard disk, but give me more room for PSU cables.

Before I unplug everything and remove my PSU to get in there to try to do it, it occured to me someone could potentially save me some unnecessary bother - has anyone tried and failed?! It looks like you could clip in the finger guard the other way round...

    So have you done this?

    Thanks

Isn't that going to be a tight fit with the 38mm fan or have you swapped it for a 25mm fan?

    Just re-read your post

You don't have to use the finger guard. I use cable ties with blutack on the fan holes to dampen vibrations. I think you can even use screws.

I have read of this fan move being done - there were even pictures - but I can't find it I am afraid. The fan was changes for a slimmer one though, I do remember that.

I have also heard reported installations in the P180 with the fan in front of the PSU removed - but this was not an OC system and so ran fairly cool.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

I had to dremel some holes in the frnt of my case in order to put a fan there, I actually can't remove my hard drives anymore since it is jammed in lol (Don't use a silverstone performance fan it is too wide...)

Mine's a P180b, so I think the fan in front of the PSU is a 25mm fan already and so the same as all the others. There's definitely more room between the harddrives and the mount than on the PSU side - that said, the PSU is quite long and I'm going to replace it.

So it's do-able, if I need or want to try it. OK then. Will see how I get on cramming in the non-modular cables first.

My PC isn't overclocked, yet, still trying to get it all running perfectly as it is (or convincing myself that it's running perfectly!) I'll see how the PSU fan runs before I try it without the fan at all. It would be nice to move it to the front where the upper hard drive enclosure was, to get more air through to my graphics card...

    Thanks all
