hi all, i am building a gaming machine with £850 but i am lost. My last build was along time ago when Northwood was still king .

so can anybody give me a nice build to guide me thru the beginning

i have done the easy part and chosen this case


i have some other stuff in mind but i would rather have some good suggestions

@ Cotswold - Easiest thing to do might be to take a screenshot of your Excel List and then upload and link to it.

yea FatalSaviour i will need a monitor but i am happy with 17"

the budget is small so i will use my previous PATA for now
i also have an external dvd burner so dont worry bout drives i will buy them later on.

I really like case looks and the 2 x 120mm fans helps, i had a look at your build cotswoldcs looks great i am a intel/ati fan so... in scan website some guy said the mobo only support 1 internal sata and 1 external sata so check it out if it might be a problem for u

looking to most replies the conroe takes advantage, although i like ati the 7900gs looks like a winner.

hum... what happened to benq monitors they still good? scan doesnt have a single one.

However it may be better to get an e6300 cpu and then get a 20" dell 2007 widescreen for £300.

Also i dont know what you need in the way of XP but if u use ur old HDD then simply remove the HDD on my spec and add XP home OEM on and it will work out about the same.

i dont like msi that much but the i965 chipset and DDR2 PC6400 support changed my mind.
Since i am not going to OC the E6600 and the XFX XT seems a better choice to me
i am a bit funny with monitors dont like then too big so 19" is more than enough.
