    Hard drive windows issue

hi all, i was running windows xp pro, service pack 2 on a 160gig hard drive. The hard drive for no apparent reason failed to boot this morning, it was giving me the old blue screen then restarting on boot up.

I have today purchased a new hard drive, and installed windows, i have now installed the broken hard drive (as a second hard drive under windows), and i can access it from my new windows, now here is the problem, ALL my data was kept under my administrator folder in my documents on my duff drive......i have tried to access it now, and its says access is denied, and it shows empty, i pressume cause i am not logged in under the username and password from my previous installation, is there anyway i can get the data in that folder back, or has it been lost!!!!

thanks for reading this post and giving me your time and any help you can advice me with.

    rad

Go to Folder Option in Explorer -> View -> Disable "Enable Simple File sharing"

Then right click bring up the properties of your Administrator folder, go into permission, and you can try to reset the permission for all your files under that directory

It may not work though if you have enabled encryption (on your old copy of windows) on that folder previously (i.e. you had set the system to protect your files in "User Setting")
