I would choose the 600W FSP over the seasonic, otherwise it looks good assuming you're insisting on the corsair ram as scan stock nothing else There are better value sticks out there, especially at that price point.

I also went for sharkoon 2000's as i figured I could turn em down with my fan controller

dell 2005fpw £366? seems expensive for the older model? i think you can get the 2007 model direct from dell for £302.

i agree with nox about a 600w psu, but not the fsp, they are noisy and cheaply made (mine was). cant go wrong with seasonic really.

Thanks guys i will update the specification to reflect the PSU changes.

Also what ram do you suggest if not Corsair? I want something powerful as not to pose as a bottleneck for games.

the corsair will be fine with that board mate, i have the corsair and no probs at all and it has hit 460mhz so far.

It does look like a really nice system. The 500W Seasonic should be more than adequate.

I personally would go for an NEC DVD-RW and my Sony, whilst problem-free is not the greatest drive ever.

In nearly every case you have chosen the highest quality & best components (IMO) but yet have only gone for the Conroe 6300. Why not splash out a little extra for the 6600??? I'd be interested to know your reason.

What CPU cooler have you gone for.

It's going to be a great setup - let us know how the build goes!

I wondered about this too...you might want to see what price you can get the 2007FPW for first before putting that money down.

looks good mate, one good thing about corsair is that them and asus are great together,nice case too, i have one lol.same with the mouse tbh, what i will say is that the x-fi u have chosen is no better really than the lower model .

Hmm, it strikes me that whilst the components are all individually very nice, and it will be a very nice system, nearly £2000 for a setup with a bottom end CPU and 'only' a 1680 x 1050 monitor seems expensive (relatively).
A bit busy right now but will make a couple of suggestions shortly (if you dont mind me butting in )

I have looked on dell and they are selling the 2007 cheaper than scan so i have changed that.

The revision of the x-fi i went for is becuase it has a 5 1/2" brive bay for easy access to headphone socket and things that is the only reason i went for that model.

@ MSIC be my guest any pointers for specifications are welcome, i want to build a top end gaming machine that wont lag have some nice graphics and load things speedily.

Well personally there are loads of areas i would cut down on and add it on in the way of a better GPU/ CPU

Also y get the 500w FSP and also the wavemaster has poo for cooling capability - its an out of date case. (authough i agree it looks nice)

You could just buy a headphone splitter plus extension cable so that you could run both speakers and/or headphones. Also some speakers have a headphone plug on them - which is a great idea. This may be a cheaper option. The X-Fi OEM version from Scan would save you a load of £££.

What speaker setup (2.1, 5.1 etc) do you have/ plan to buy?

I'm sure you could save money here and there but then you've chosen well with decent components.

What made you choose that TFT? Have you looked at others? I'm not saying you should - I'm just interested in a widescreen TFT myself!

Ok, here's my suggestions. I'm not actually saying that this is better, but component for component I think might get you what you (probably) want for a little better value for money. All prices are at Scan, with links.

Motherboard: Gigabyte DS4 £111. Should do most of what you want. Am personally not a fan of Wi-Fi for the main gaming PC - i don't think you'll find many online gamers over wi-fi due to pings / reliability.
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 £217. 2.4Ghz and 4MB L2 cache
Memory: Corsair XMS2 DDR (2 x 1GB) 667Mhz £152. Corsair are great. This has plenty of overclocking headroom (but you'll know if you need more).
Case: Antec P180 £93
Mouse: Logitech MX518 £32. Now, i appreciate a good mouse (and i think that corded is better IMHO) but £50 on a G7! That's gotta be one hellova rodent.
Keyboard: Logitech Ultra X £14. Looks good.
Hard Drive 1 & 2: Samsung Spinpoint T-series 400GB (x2) £97 x 2 = £194. These beauties are fast and quiet and are better value for money than Raptors.
Optical: NEC ND-5170A £23. DVD drives are much of a muchness these days. NEC are as good as Sony.
Floppy drive: Do you really need one? LOL
Power Supply: Seasonic S12-500W. £78. Quality is better than numbers. I have to respectfully disagree with Nox (unless someone is prepared to find some numbers/evidence) about the need for the ever increasing Kilowatt-type PSU's. A core 2 duo is a low power CPU. 500W is enough, even considering graphics, as long as it's quality.
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooler 7 Pro. £17. These things are such good value for money, it makes water cooling look like a pile of puke.
Graphics: Sapphire X1900 XT £217. Seems like good value but the fan seems to get loud. Maybe get ...
GPU cooler: Arctic Cooling Accelero X2 £14.
Soundcard: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music £56. I think you'd have to be nuts to buy a Fatal1ty (unless you like giving rich boys lots of cash).

This totals about £1,218 (not counting the coins).

This really opens up the whole monitor field, and without question, given your budget, that only leaves 1 option:
Dell's 2407WFP at £627. Trusted Reviews likes it (at over £800). Hexus loved it's predecessor. These widescreens are amazing (i know) and i honestly wouldnt want to get an amazing system, then output to something too small. And you can always slap in a better graphics card in a while to come LOL.

The monitor is too big for my liking, it is a little un practical for lan partys and such like.

Thats over 1TB of storage there as you seem to want it.

Also Do you really want to pay £100 extra on the Sound Card for a Headfone port lol
