What's the problem here?
Right so, I've been building my new PC this last week and because i was looking at the internet for how to do certain things, I was building next to another PC that has the net. I only had the one monitor so i was swapping the monitor cable from one PC to the other as needed and all went fine. Until today.
I unplugged it from my new build, back into the internet PC, then hit a problem. The screen shows POST, then goes to the boot screen for XP (i think its the boot screen, the one that says Windows XP with a black background) then that goes and the screen hangs as though theres no connection anymore. The hdd light keeps flashing but nothing happens.
I thought maybe it's the monitor so i tried it in 2 other PCs and it works fine in both. Then i tried the internet PC again, this time in safe mode, IT WORKED! So it doesn't get past the boot screen in normal mode but in safe mode it works. What the heck is the problem? The internet PC is my dads and he needs it so what do you think the problem could be?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.
*edit* forgot to mention, i tried a different monitor and the same thing happened.

are you connecting via dvi cable? sounds like its dropping the dvi connection if so. either that or the drivers are trying to set the monitor resolution to higher than it can go (out of range). worth a go :)

Nah its not through a dvi :/ The card is just an analog vga nvidia MX440. A mate suggested since i can get it in safe mode, either do a system restore or reinstall the graphics card drivers (which im not sure you can do in safe mode) so i'll give both of those a go. See how it goes.
Cheers.

In safe mode you should be able to uninstall the drivers. Then boot back into normal windows, and reinstall them.
