Upgrade-any help apreciated

i know there have been quite a few threads about upgrading/new builds etc etc, and im quite a new hexus member, but i was reli wanting any advice any1 has to give.

Basically @ the mo, im running an AMD 3700+, 2 gigs of ram, ATI Radeon x1800GTO. And i want to do a bit of upgrading/renewing im on a bit of a limited budget after last weekend indulging an a macbook!

I was looking at upgrading the CPU, getting a new case, and investing in a 19" widescreen tft, (mayb the hanns-g)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Socket 939, ToledoCore, 2x 2.4GHz, 2MBCache £198.95 (Scan)

Im wanting to keep my g/card until the DX10 cards are out, and my x1800 shud keep me going till then!

Is it wise to still stick with skt 939?

If you're on a budget then yeah it's wise to stick with 939, as a building a new system gets very expensive very fast. The 4800+ is still a very fast chip.

Personally I'd spend a little more and get a slightly better monitor, but i'm an image quality freak, it might not bother you.

what moniter would you recomen urself? im flexible about sizes

There was a thread in the Bargain forum about that monitor and some think it's good.

Personally I'd dump the case and spend the extra money on http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=381908

But it depends how badly you need/want a case. I just have a huge loathing for cheap monitors, comes with working with graphics for a few years. It's all down to personal preference.
