System check - another C2D build

Here are my thoughts. Aim to order this weekend (probably from Scan)

    E6600
    Gigabyte DS3
    2Gb (2X1Gb) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC6400 (800) CAS 5
    512MB Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT PCI-E (x16)
530W HiperPower Type-R Modular Black PSU
    Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro
    Akasa Eclipse
    320Gb Seagate ST3320620AS Barracuda 7200.10, SATA300
    Samsung SH-S162L/BEBN Black Lightscribe 16x16 ±R/RAM DLayer
    120mm Akasa AK-174BK-S Black Case Fan, 3 Pin x 3
Akasa AK-455 Hi Performance Silver compound
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Card OEM

Total cost is about £1040 whiich on budget.

Will hope to achieve a mild overclock (3Ghz).

Could get cheaper CAS4 GeIL RAM fom overclockers?
    PSU thoughts?

Would have preferred to get P5B Deluxe but bought the cheaper DS3 to offset the cost of E6600 - seemed lower risk than looking for higher oc's.

    What do you think?

    Cheers

    E6300
    Asus P5B Deluxe
    2Gb (2X1Gb) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC6400 (800) CAS 5
    512MB Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT PCI-E (x16)
    Tagan TG530-U15 530W
    Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro
    Akasa Eclipse 62
    2x Samsung SpinPoint P120s (SP2504C) 250GB S300
NEC 4571a (svp.co.uk, enter dvd99 to get 99p shipping this weekend)
    120mm Akasa AK-174BK-S Black Case Fan, 3 Pin x 3
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Card OEM

Things I've changed are in bold

No need for any extra thermal compund as the MX-1 on the Freezer 7 Pro beats the lot. I'd also recommend you buy an Arctic Cooling Accelero X2 to shove on that X1900XT as it's better and quieter than the shoddy beast cooler it comes with. I'd also change the 120mm fans to Sharkoons but I don't think Scan stock them.

if you are only going for a 3ghz overclock, the ram is overkill if you are getting a e6600. with an e6600, the multiplier is 9, so that would equate to a 3.6ghz overclock for you to use the 800mhz 1:1, looking at most peoples overclocks on an e6600 at that speed, they need a lot of voltage, so not ideal. if 3ghz is what you are after, you can get away with pc2-5300 ram, good quality value ram will do as well.

with the money saved on the ram, spend it on the p5b deluxe instead of the ds3.

im guessing that you arent that fussed about fan noise, so an fsp 600w psu. if you are fussed about fan noise, grab a seasonic or tagan psu and add a zalman cooler for the x1900xt.

Some great comments I have amended choice of mb and DVD drive and also dropped the memory timing to DDR2-5300 (good call Clunk).

    E6600
    ASUS P5B Deluxe
    GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz
    512MB Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT PCI-E (x16)
530W HiperPower Type-R Modular Black PSU
    Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro
    Akasa Eclipse
    320Gb Seagate ST3320620AS Barracuda 7200.10, SATA300
    NEC ND-4571
120mm Akasa AK-174BK-S Black Case Fan, 3 Pin
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Card OEM

I'll need to get the RAM from Overclockers as I think the GeIL sticks are a better bet for the money as Scan only offer the Corsair ones.

Will look at the alternative PSU's and have a think....

    A big help, thanks
