Needed speakers....
I have got bored of having no speakers and only headphones on my PC.
I remembered that I had a lovely Ariston amp in my loft from many years ago, when I had PC speakers 4 foot tall, so I went and retrieved her.
Then a little bit of work on ebay found me some little Ariston monitor speakers, which arrived today (minor bass speaker vibration, which I will try to sort with a removal and refit, and if not a refund and look for some more)
But either way, with a set of Medusa 5.1 heaphones for gaming, and this little audio setup, I am back to a proper sound setup for musci while I surf.
Ikea desk unit with up and over surround, amp up top, Icybox up there too, Saitek Cyborg Evo joystick to the right, (she fits perfectly), 17" TFT'age (needs to be bigger and faster once the budgets available) my precious Logitech Medi akeyboard with scroll wheel (for trimming my WW2 planes :)), and I feel like it's all come together at last :)
CD storage in top side sections, speakers bracketed in the lower half (Lineage 2 map tucked in the left side ;))
Now...one year after moving into my new house..I'm really set up :)
Takes time , ya know ;)

Looks a mighty cool setup :)
Would a 20" Widescreen TFT fit in that space? Then you would be truly sorted :D
-
wouldn't that be lovely :)
-
Even if a 20" didn't fit a 19" surely would, now wouldn't that be lovely considering its only £150 for one. I prefer a larger open desk that way dual monitors is always possible. Does look really really nice, I do prefer having an Amp power my speakers but at the moment I only use it for DVD's/CD's

Nice setup Zak, richer sounds do ariston surrounds to go with those monitors pretty cheap (sub £20 i think)
Picked up a slick pair of TDL's for my decks from there cheap as chips and man they sound sweet with my Yamaha amp.
-
im pleased to have gone back to normal amp and speakers, over the PC products that I've tried, and over headphones for music and single gaming.
Richersounds....its where the amp came from all those years ago. Thing is, I cant find the Aristons on there anymore.

That desk and shelf looks awfully familiar. Ikea by any chance? Anton series?
Oh and those LG L1710B tft's rocked! Still have mine.

So Zak - does your soundcard output go into that amp and then from that into speakers?
If so, why not just go from Soundcard -> speakers (e.g. what benifits are there (for you atleast) from runnig it through an amp first)
-
yes .,.it goes from sound card to amp.....the speakers need an amp. Sound cards are NOT powerfull enough to run anything other than tiny little speakers or headphones at most.
Hex....the games....man.....its not MY Pariah...it's Nicks...and its not THAT bad...tthough I did give up when boredom set in.
Severance, The Thing, Knights of the Temple, UT2003, Medal of Honour, Black & White, IL-2. original Dungeon Keeper (in big box)
not THAT bad :)
