    Silent, Modular PSU 400w - 500w (ish)

Im looking for a PSU for a HTPC project, its has to be..

    Modular (space is really tight)

    Silent or almost silent

Standard ATX size. (not the longer type, they wont fit)

400 - 500w (this can go higher if the rest of the spec fits)

I was thinking of the Enermax Liberty 400w or 500w, which look ideal, but are they silent?

    any recommendations?

Enermax Libertys are silent. The new Seasonic M12 (Modular) will probably be your best bet.

Much like Noni - I would suggest the M12. The S12 I have had has been excellent, with the only slight downside that it wasn't sleeved - which the new ones probably will be

The liberty is very quiet, but the cabling might be awkward in a HTPC. depends what you're connecting though.

    awkward?...spill the beans then

at the moment, i am using an enermax 485w noisetaker but theres just too many wires, the routing of the wires that i need is easy enough...that would be
1 molex run (dvd drive, 2 fans)
1 x sata run (could do away with this one and use a molex converter) (single sata hard drive)
    atx 24 pin,
    atx 4 pin

all the rest, like pci-e, extra sata and molex can be left out.

on the psu thats in at the moment, there is room for the spare wires, but it does get in the way of the airflow.

another thing, an ideal psu design for this case would be a straight through design with a fan at the front and back of the psu because the psu is situated at the front of the case and the underneath fan is supposed to draw air from a vent in the motherboard tray and also in the floor/underside of the case, but it doesnt work too well.

ive just realised that im waffling as well...which was nice.
