No I'm afraid not.
All 965 chipsets and some 975 chipsets are compatable.
o thats a shame. i heard somewhere that their are sone 945g chipsets that support core 2 using a updated version of the bios..
what is the main reason why core 2 is not compatible with a 945 chipset? is it because of the fsb? if so,their are 1066fsb on some 945 boards
whats the voltage thats needed to run core 2? if the voltage in the mobo is higher than the voltage of the core 2, would it fry the cpu?
cant the bios reduce/increase the voltage of the cpu
here is the exact motherboard that my friend has
http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...0&v=2#infoarea
which is too old to support core 2 duo.
http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../line_c2dp.htm lists all intel boards that can use core 2 duo. there's a newer i945 board (with newer vreg circuitry) on the list.
o ok is their any other dual core cpu's that can work with this mobo?
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/tp/tp_proc.htm
anything in the "pentium d" section
ok cheers. Is hyperThreading a real boost if cpus have them because looking at some of the PD's, they dont have them,
btw is this any good? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=432799
thanks for your help guys cheers

How come the motherboard above has a fsb of 1066mhz. i also found out that the voltage of the core 2 and this motherboard is the same....
