Is Lightscribe any good?
Its damn slow but can give nice results.
Took me 30-40 mins to write/burn/etch the label for Dark Side of the Moon....

Tried it once, almost died waiting for it to finish. It takes longer to do the label than to do a whole 4.5gig DVD.
Hi tech alternative http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog...ge+Tip+Markers
If you're not in a rush you can get some pretty decent results. Just bear in mind that it's only really greyscale (more goldy and greys). Takes me about 25mins to burn the image on my drive. If you want colour you need a printer that's capable and full face printable discs (latter are pretty common not sure about the printers though).
As it's often only a £1 or so more for the lightscribe drive than the non-LS version. So you may as well have the option, even if you only ever use it once or twice.
I ordered an Epson R220 a couple of weeks ago for work. We have been using a HP printer and MediaFace labels which are pretty expensive and a pain to stick on some times. Decided to get a few sets of the compatible Printworks catridges too, at only £0.94 per cart, if they screw up the printer in 3 months then we just get a new printer, we still save money compared to the £25 each for the HP carts
PS. not tried the printer yet myself, not been in the office for a while. Not had any complaints on email though.
Its given very good results when I used it, although very slow, about 25 minutes a disc. There is talk of faster dics that will work in existing drives at higher speeds, how you identify them tough I am not sure.
Is LabelFlash any good?
Pretty similar by most accounts I've seen, but with a blue base rather than a gold one. The discs are more than twice the price though, probably due to the fact that it's NEC only, whereas Lightscribe is more widespread.
Labelflash unused data side writing looks fun, especially if you aren't in the habit of leaving a session open when writing, but the extra cost for the DvDs kinda makes both methods a bit of a pain imho.

I've completed tetris...
