YER pci is faster most of the time for some reason and all so free's up a usb port
ok mate cheers so there is no major drawbacks with a pci card
I'v used used a PCI one for the past 6 months with no issues at all. Probably the most stable thing in my rig ;)
cheers which is the best chipset or does it not matter
Mine's a Zoom I believe, from Dabs.com
have a look here i was looking at them, but then bought one 2nd hand off the forums for £20 :) havent had a single problem with it :)

Wrong, there's nothing between a good router (virata chipset in my case) and an AccessRunner PCI card.Quote:

Only difference is the CPU usage, only a few per% on an Athlon 2700+
I have both, and compared both.
Chipsets wont effect your ping too much, although if your really concious, look on www.adslguide.org.uk . The AccessRunner series all got the lowest latency.
Not that it matters if your crap :P
surely he was talking about a usb modem not a router? in which case pci would be preferable to a usb modem. or did i miss something?Quote:
