    Hard drive choice

Well I am at a dilemma regarding which setup to get, either a raptor 74GB drive (single), or a raid 0 Seagate 320GB SATA II setup. I am not sure which one is the better performance setup; each drive has 16mb of cache. If there are any comparison charts to look at, keep in mind though I am more interested in real world performance than the theoretical performance benchmarks. This setup is used for graphic/web design and gaming. Thanks for your help.

the raptor is fast and some dont like the noise that it makes, but, to be honest, my raptor is much quiteter than the other 2 maxtor drives i have. the raptor's noise is more like a higher pitched bleeping as opposed to a chattering.

speed wise though, the raptor is fantastic. if you want the absolute fastest, at the expense of some storage space, then go for the raptor, if you just want half decent speed with plenty of storage space, then go for the other.

Yes I love my 36 GB raptor that I have now, only 8 MB of cache as opposed to the 16 on the 74. Storage is not an issue, was just curious of what would the better performer be, the single raptor or the raid 0 Seagate 320 GB.

If you really can only have one then 74Gb these days just wont be enough space, I don't think, and so you'd have to default to the bigger slower drives. However, if you can drum up the extra funds to buy the raptor and either a second raptor to Raid0 or, more feasibly, buy an inexpensive storage drive to keep data on, then the raptor will be (a little noisy but) really nice.
